Class Descriptions for Online Non-Credit PAPA or PECT or PRAXIS courses:

 

PRAXIS™ I PPST and PAPA (PA) View Course Outline(pdf)

This Internet course is designed for teacher candidates preparing to take the PPST Praxis I™ Reading, Writing, and Mathematics Exams or the new Pennsylvania PAPA Exam. PRAXIS I/PAPA online provides plenty of interaction with the instructor through submitted assignments, discussion board topics, and live chats in the chat room in Blackboard. Homework assignments are submitted to the instructor so the instructor can help students discover areas of strengths and weaknesses. Students will learn exam taking strategies, improve reading comprehension, learn how to write an effective essay response, understand key mathematical concepts, and get plenty of practice exam questions.

PECT PreK-4- Early Childhood

This course is designed for early childhood teacher candidates preparing to take the new PECT exam for PreK-4 Pennsylvania State Certification.

 

The course focuses on the three modules of the PECT PreK-4 exam, providing a review of content for the test objectives and practice questions. The class provides plenty of interaction with the instructor through submitted assignments, discussion board topics, practice exams, and live chats in the chat room in Blackboard. Exam taking strategies and reduction of exam anxiety are also addressed.

 

Praxis II- Elementary Education View Course Outline(pdf)

This course is designed for elementary education teachers and teacher candidates preparing to take one or more of the following PRAXIS II™ exams necessary for state licensure:

  • Elementary Education: Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment (5011)
  • Elementary Education: Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge (5011)

The course focuses on the four key subject areas in the elementary education classroom, concentrating heavily on reading/language arts. Each exam prep is set up in a separate module. Students will practice cognitive thinking and apply higher order thinking skills to practice questions. The class provides plenty of interaction with the instructor through submitted assignments, discussion board topics, practice exams, and live chats in the chat room in Blackboard. Exam taking strategies and reduction of exam anxiety are also addressed.

 

PRAXIS II - HS or MS Math/Science View Course Outline (pdf)

This course prepares teachers and teacher candidates for one or more of the following Praxis II™ exams:

  • Secondary Education: Math Content Knowledge 0061
  • Secondary Education: Biology Content Knowledge 0235
  • Secondary Education: General Science Content Knowledge 0435
  • Middle School Mathematics 0069, and Middle School Science 0439

The class provides a thorough review and offers numerous practice exercises and exams. The online format offers flexibility to busy students and professionals. Each exam prep is set up in a separate module. Group chats and discussion board forums allow class participants to communicate with each other and the instructor throughout the course. **This course provides a review and summary exercises for the MS and HS Praxis II™ Math Exams. It not intended to replace necessary content that you would gain from college courses in higher mathematics disciplines.
